Busy Day...

We started our day off bright an early this morning. Jan Nelson, a friend of ours, is trying to build her portfolio in children photography so bright and early this morning we meet up with her at a park for her to do pictures of the girls. She made us an offer we couldn't refuse, FREE!!!! Don't worry I will post them when she gets done editing them and sends them on to me. The park was great first thing in the morning. The ducks were out with all their little babies and so were the bullfrog toads. We had so much fun trying to find them amongst the cat tails in the pond and boy were they huge when we did finally find them. Then Kami's friend Bonnie had her birthday party so we headed over there to visit with them a bit and them home for a quick lunch and then on the road for horseback riding lessons. I read this add on Craigslist that offered horseback riding lessons again for my favorite price, FREE!!!! So I signed the girls up. Charlie and Alli are great, they have a ranch north of Spokane and have about 9-10 horses there. They are older and retired and just love having people around so they were advertising horseback riding lessons for free to anyone that wanted them. The girls had a blast. Charlie introduce the girls to all he horses, he mostly raises Appaloosa's but does board a couple of other horses, one which was used to do therapy riding for children with MD. Charlie then showed the girls how to groom the horses and how to halter them. He used a different kind of halter than the traditional halter and bit. He had Kezri jump on first and she was a bit nervous but he really took his time talking to her and calming her down and before you knew it she was riding Chopin (the horse) all over the circle pen. Charlie had his horses trained really well too, he would point and the horse would go in the direction he pointed. Kezri didn't want to get off when her turn was over. Kalaree was next and well, I don't think she has a career as a jockey in her future. While, she loved grooming, braiding tails and manes, leading the horses and petting them, sitting on one was a completely different story. They did get her on one but she was so scared that she was starting to spook the horse so we got her down. Charlie then threw a saddle on the horse and Kami got her turn. Oh Kami, was in hog heaven. She absolutely loved to ride the horse. She was so happy and riding him all over the pen, she wasn't even afraid when Charlie let go. She just grabbed ahold of the reins and took control. Another family came out and they had a little girl the same age as Kami and they of course became best buds. after their children rode they put Chopin away and brought out Lakota. This is the horse that was used for therapy riding. She was a little more skittish than Chopin was. Charlie worked with her a bit and then the kids all got a turn on her. By now the girls were working on balance and both Kami and Kezri were riding with their hands out straight and directing the horse with their legs only. We finished up by Kami riding double with her friend and then off to home. The girls had such great time and Charlie and Alli were so good with them. Kalaree even wants to go back, she just doesn't want to get on the horse.
Charlie even told David that next time he has to have a turn. After such a long day I am so glad to be home and now I need to go shower and change into my sweats for the night.
