I've seen it all...

*Disclaimer* This post is potty related. But I was figuring that since this is kind of like a journal to me that I should document some daily life stuff and opinions related to it for years to come. The other night I ran to IKEA and had to use the bathroom while I was there. Now the bathroom was typical department store bathroom. Stales all lined up along the one wall. When I had finished using the toilet I turned around to flush and there were instructions on how to use this particular toilet. The handle on the toilet was green. Apparently, it is coated to protect against bacteria. But to flush you pull up on the handle for water waste, #1 for the mommies out there and push down for solid waste, #2, again for the mommies out there. Apparently, if you pull up it uses less water than if you push down. I don't know why this was on my mind today. OR why I felt the need to document it. But I really am intrigued by this movement with our water resources. I really wonder what the future ...

3rd talk in one years time.

I konw that I bragged that I went 6 years without even given one talk and now I have given 3 in one years time. Does it stop when you hit one for each year? I was asked to speak on eternal families on the "bring your friend to church" Sunday. I think the talk went well. It was really hard to bring one subject that is so huge in our church down to one simple 15 minute talk. But all in all it went well. We also had the sister missionaries over for dinner last night. They called yesterday morning and asked if we would feed them since they didn't have a dinner appointment. The girls love having the missionaries over. I think it is their time to show off and as we all know, my girls hate to be the center of attention. (Yes, that was sarcasm coming through.) David interviewed yesterday with Staybridge Suites and then has another interview tomorrow with the US Census bureau and he got a call last night for one more interview with the Red Lion at the airport for Thursday....

Guess What!!!!

I finally got my toothless kindergarten picture. Thanks in part to David. Kami has had a loose top front tooth for the last couple of months, but never really loose enough to pull. Well picture day was Thursday last week and on Wednesday David was helping Kami get into her back pack and accidentally bumped her in the mouth. Well it made the tooth really loose. So Wednesday night I pulled the tooth out. So she was missing one of her top front teeth when she had her pictures taken. Now it would of only been perfect if both were gone but hey at least she was missing one of the two.

LOVE craigslist.

Image
I was doing my usual cruise through craigslist tonight when I stumbeld upon a find. A family in a neighboring town is moving and needed to get rid of their loveseat. Slightly sunfaded is how they discribed it but it was free. Well to my surprise when I scrolled down to look guess what I found.... Yup the exact match to our living room set. It is sunfaded, it even looks purple in spots. But hey ours is not in the best of shape either so who cares. So now we finally have enough seats in our living room to have everyone sit without someone being on the floor or a kitchen chair.

What to name him?

Image
We brought our new baby kitten home last night. He is really sweet and so tiny. Melvin is definitely happy again to have someone to play with and the kitten is doing well with the dog. Sometimes he runs and sometimes he plays. Of course the other two cats aren't real sure of him but it will only take some time. He did make us pay last night. He cried almost all night long. We will have to try something different tonight with him. Hopefully, having spent all day there he will be better adjusted tonight. We haven't really discussed names. Kezri wants to name him Cooper. I am not against it but I want to get to know him a little better. Do you guys have any suggests?

Mikaela Selbe

Here is my huge shoot out to my best friend of the whole wide world on her very special day. I am so happy that she got her wish for her birthday and is finally settling into the Utah way of life with her husband in Salt Lake City Utah. I can't believe that we are seperated so very far apart because you know we were sisters in heaven and all. Plus I can't imagine what life would be like not knowing how dark the tables are at Outback Steak House. Also she introduced me to milk at Hooters. Plus I have never, ever been so drunk as that night we were at Target. Good thing the pregnant lady was driving. She has helped increase my vocabulary. I had no clue about FF or FM or ES or even just S till I was around Mikaela. Bill, Barb, Nikki and Margene are now household names for us. She increased my talents by helping me learn to walk the dog with a yoyo. Albino even has special meaning to me now. I will always remember our PMS parties and especially the confession game. Sho...

Snacks

Kami's preschool has asked that once a month we provide 21 individually wrapped snacks for her class. I have no problem with that but I read it to mean that you buy those prepackaged stuff at the store and then bring it in. Well that is not what is happening in her class. The parents are putting together individual snack size ziploc baggies of goodies. I have no problem with that. It is usually things like raisins and pretzels and what not. I am thinking it is cool enough that we may do pepperoni and cheese sticks when our turn rolls around. What do you think and what would you bring to kindergarten for a snack? Also Kami had 4 baggies of leftover snacks in her bag this Friday. I know bad mom for not checking it daily. Apparently Kami is a slow eater and doesn't finish her snack in the time allowed and so she is told to put it in her back pack for home. This seems to be a repeating pattern from Kezri. They are just slow eaters I guess. I wonder how much time they really do get ...

Garage Sale find...

Image
I hit the jackpot tonight. David and I were just out and about in the neighborhood and stumbled across a garage sale. This one gal was a pampered chef consultant and was no longer selling so she was getting rid of all her stuff. I was able to get both the gallon ($19.50) and 2 qt. pitcher ($14.50) the glazed 9 x 13 baker($44.00) with storage lid(?) the muffin pan ($32.50) and the 4 mini loaf pan ($31.00) the pizza cutter ($9.75) the large stoneware bowl (?) and the kids measuring cup and cookie cutters (?) with a children's recipe cookbook (?). Now those are all the retail prices. I walked away with all of that for a whopping $25. I was and still am on cloud nine right now. I could of gotten so much more but I was good and walked away with that which I knew I would use.

Hen

The girls were singing this song this weekend and I have never heard but I thought it was hillarious so I am blogging about it. I had a golden hen that wouldn't lay an egg I poured hot water up and down its legg It cried and it scream and it laid a hard boiled egg. So Kami's comment aobut learning anything was of course false. They learned this really cute song.

Catch up post.

I forgot to mention that both David and I have received callings in our ward. I was called to teach the 12/13 year old sunday school class and David was called into the Young Men Presidency. David is excited about his calling and I will enjoy mine. I love to be teaching the children and know this is where I am to be right now. The girls are settling in at church quite well and we were even invited over to another families house for dinner this next Sunday since it is Stake Conference. I can't wait to start to meet people. I have been asked to talk in church on the 21st of September. The funny thing about it is that it is the "bring a friend to church" Sunday and I was sure that they wouldbe inviting people like the Young Women president and Primary President and what not to speak but no they asked me. I am talking on the Eternal Family. One of my favorite subjects. Now to do all the research but to make sure it isn't too complex. Oh the wonderful joys, glad ...

Good news...

Image
I am bummed when I get on my blog right now so I figured it was time for me to post a happy post. That way we don't have to keep seeing a sad one. Well we got new kitty. We haven't named him yet, actually we haven't actually brought him home yet. He is four weeks old and is still with his mom. Once he fully weans and is litterboxed trained then we can pick him up. The gal called yesterday and said he is starting to wean himself so that is a plus. I think he will be huge when he gets older. We grow them large in our house, just ask Mikaela. He is another orange tabby, short hair. Kezri wants to name him Cooper which I am not opposed to but I want to see what his personality is like first. Right now all we know is that he is a climber. He had two sisters that were calico and they were super sweet and I almost gave in and took one of them but I do really want an orange tabby. In the picture he is the orange one in the back the one closer up is his brother but he...

In loving memory...

We had such a tragic morning this morning. It started just like any other. We got up and saw all the animals running around playing then all of a sudden Emmett fell over limp. I ran over to him and he was laying very limp and his mouth open and he pooped and then nothing. I called an emergency vet and he had me do a few things but he said that based on what I was telling him and how Emmett was responding to what he was having me do it appears that Emmett is already dead and that most likely it was a heart attack. We said our good byes and shed quite a few tears and then buried him out back. He was such a good kitty and so playful, but it must of been his time to go. We are going to get another kitty and hopefully one just like Emmett because he was so perfect for our family.

What kind of cake are you?

Image
You Are a Lemon Cake Strong, sexy, and overpowering. You know who you are, and you're not afraid to show the world your fabulous self. You're confident, charming, and extremely popular. What Kind of Cake Are You? The funny thing is that growing up I didn't like anything lemon. But as I am getting older lemon seems to be one of my favorite desserts ie, lemon squares lemon tart, lemon pound cake, etc. Guess I am just getting sour in my old days.

Finished another project.

A while ago I crocheted a dress for a gal in our ward. I am sure you all remember the post. Well, the Sunday before we moved the gal had her daughter wear the dress to church. This generated another gal in our ward to ask me to crochet her one but in white with pink. She wants to use it for the next girl baby that she has. The kicker is that she is not pregnant, but she really just wanted this dress. Well my faithful readers know I love to crochet so any excuse I have to do it is a welcome relief. So right after getting here I ran out and bought the thread and got started. Well these dresses don't take long as long as you don't have a baby kitten around. Emmett decided that he LOVES my crochet. So as I woul dmake progress he would destroy it at night. So basically this dress took longer and I probaby crochet it the equivalent of three times. Now, most would be asking why I left it out. Well I didn't realize he was frogging it (unraveling it) for me. I kept thinki...

First day of Kindergarten

Image
Kami did great she was more than ready and was counting down as much as she could. My principal was so sweet and allowed me to take my lunch during the drop off time so I surprised her by picking her up. She got there and got in line and was ready to go. She saw Kezri on the recess and they were able to talk which went great. The first thing she told me when I got home was that she, "didn't learn anything, today." What a silly girl. So now all three of my girls are big girls now. What great kids they are. Oh, and yes, I almost shed a few tears but I was able to hold them back. But let's be real I almost shed a few tears this morning while helping all the new kindergartners at my school off the bus and to their classes this morning. So the older I get the more of a cry baby I am becoming.

First Day of School.

Image
I was holding out to post the first day of school post till after Kami had her first day. See here Kindergartners don't go till Thursday when everyone else starts on Tuesday. The Kindergarten teachers take those two days to meet with each and every parent and child and to get some information regarding the child. But then I decided that I could really do two posts. One for the two girls and one for the first day of Kindergarten. So here is the break down for each person. Kalaree: Loved school. She had to make two different set of friends join but she did it with tacked, Yes, Kalaree did it with tack, and they all joined at one table. So now Kalaree is the ring leader of a new "clique" according to her. This move has been rather good for her. She met the boy across the street and his friends and then the other beehive girls in our ward and combined them to make a new group of friends. Kezri: True to form hated the firs day of school because she didn't make a friend tha...

Not Salsa!!!

Image
Every year I can homemade salsa. I love doing it and actually look forward to making the salsa. This year was no exception. The one thing I hate though is the peeling the tomatoes, but David helped this year and it seemed to go much quicker and almost less messy. I do have to say it is quite a change from canning in the 1/2 a butt kitchen to this new one. I was able to triple the amount of salsa this year so maybe after the kids give away their usual share and I do the whole take for a quick and easy at a pot luck we will have some left for at the house. Now I know most of you are wondering why the title of not salsa. There is a very funny story that goes along with that title. One year I made a double batch and knowing David likes a hotter batch than myself I made one with more jalapeno peppers than the other. Well the only way to tell the difference is to label the jars. So I neatly wrote "salsa" on my jars and "hot salsa" on David's jars. Of course mine went ...
