Our Zoo
I mentioned our zoo in the about me section of this blog. I figured I should at least introduce you to them. We couldn't talk about the zoo without talking about the directors.
David and I have been married 12 years. We weren't high school sweethearts but pretty darn close. We met right after high school and married shortly after that. We have had our ups and downs but for the most part it has been more ups.
We have three zoo keepers/animal trainers. Kalaree is our performer, playing the violin and regularly in some stage production and typical preteen. Turning 12 in two short weeks has really opened the door for her. She is a very responsible girl, she loves to babysit and to bake and cook. Kezri is our smarty pants. She started the school year off to a rough start but has since made leaps and gains. Once we figured out that she needed to have colored lenses to help the words stand still. Kezri is also our artist drawing, coloring and creating something is what she does best. She also writes poetry and will often have a pen and paper in her hand. Kambrya is our firecracker. She is such a mellow, loving child. Yet she is a crack up to be around. She always has the cutest things to say. Everything from telling a grumpy child that "no one likes a grump" to telling an adult that "I am always very good at your house."
Now for the animals:
Melvin (Marshmellow, Mel) is our Coton de Tulear. We adopted him at the pound in January. He was a mess matted down to the skin and he stunk so bad. Yet something told us he was meant for us. He came to us with some bad habits but as he has adjusted into our family he has been great. true to his breed he is the little performer, often found walking on his hind legs begging for food. He is also a little snuggle, he loves to sleep on you. He is happiest in the same room as you, so often he is right under foot.
Tori is the oldest animal we have. She is two and is one FAT cat. She is rather lazy and she is the one who really rules the roost. She loves to be on you but only when she chooses too.
Cassie is our poor tortured soul. She is the best cat for the girls. Often found dressed in doll clothes and stuffed in the doll stroller, yet she always seems to come back for more.
Tator Tot and Spot are Kalaree's trained rats. Spot comes to her name and both walk on a leash. Often found in Kalaree's pocket or on her shoulder they have been with us about a year and a year and a half. Spot had a twin Dot which we lost recently to an upper respiratory disorder.
Dorothy is our typical goldfish, Kambrya brought her home from church one Sunday. After much thought we added Bob, our African dwarf frog. Stacey is the Tri-colored Moor Goldfish and Pepper Wiggle is the Black Moor Goldfish. They were added we Kami decided that Dorothy needed a family too. Finally, we have That Sucks, he was added because mom got tired of cleaning the tank. While we are large we also love each one of us. I couldn't imagine my life without any of them.
